PEP
What is PEP?
POSTÂ Exposure Prophylaxis
A way of preventing HIV by taking medication Immediately AFTER possible exposure. This approach is highly effective at preventing HIV infection. The medication must be started within 72 hours after the possible exposure to have any affect. The earlier the treatment is started the more effective it is.
The quickest way for a person to obtain PEP is to go an urgent care clinic or to the emergency room of a hospital. PRC can help with the logistics of the process.
